What You’ll Learn in This Lesson

In this lesson, you will learn about:

  • What Standards are able to do
  • What Subgrades are able to do
  • What is unique about Standards and Subgrades

When considering standards based grading, there is the easy way and the hard way. The easy way is when teachers just enter the final score on the report cards at the end of the term. For example, if a student mastered phones, the teacher just enters a 4 on the report cards. If you want this, use Subgrades

The hard way means if the teacher wants a student to have a "4" on the report card for Phonics, they will need to show evidence of student mastery. This is done by linking the phonics standard to gradebook assignments. The report card will then auto calculate the mastery of the student for phonics and put it on the report card. If you want this, use Standards.
